Maison Michel has made hats in Paris since 1936, when Auguste Michel opened his millinery at 65 rue Sainte-Anne. From the 1960s, Pierre and Claudine Debard reorganized the workshops to meet demand from Parisian haute couture. They also brought back the Weismann, an antique machine for sewing straw that its milliners still use today. The house runs its own block-making atelier alongside its millinery and hat-making workshops. Since 2015, Priscilla Royer has led its collections and image, turning the workshop into a creative laboratory with hats for women and men.
